Helpful Tips for Communication After the Wedding Pt. 2 By Town Car Service

Leading off from our blog about communication part one, we have addressed that communication can be difficult at points during a relationship. Yet, just like a good business, a great DC Corporate Car Service company, or in your case, a marriage—communication is necessary to keep a relationship healthy.

So after you created a relaxing environment by lighting candles or having taken a walk; you are both serene like you took a ride with Cheap Car Service or DC Corporate Limo Service, so now what?

To start the conversation, it is important to keep certain things in mind. You don’t have to remember them all, but if you can utilize at least one during the conversation—it will go smoother.

Use “I” phrases, instead of starting phrases with the word “you.” Instead of saying, “You never listen to me.” You might say, “I feel like when I speak you are not listening to me.” Can you see how the first sentence sounds like you are blaming someone, while the second is more of a question or concern?

If you find that your words come out all wrong, consider writing them down. For some people, it can be tremendously helpful to write down what they want to say on a piece of paper, or even on a Word document, and pass it back and forth between you and your partner. Writing also gives you the chance to slow down and think before you communicate.

Remember to breathe, when things get heated, think of a peaceful ride with BNA Car Service and focus on your breath.

Never use the word “never.” The word “never” is a very conclusive word and is rarely correct. “You never do this, or that!” This can make the other person feel very unappreciated and cause resentment. Instead try asking, “I feel like I do this a lot, can you help me with it more often?”
